India to Suspend Entry for Four Countries Affected by Coronavirus

India’s government has decided to suspend entry for the four most affected countries by the COVID-19, which decision has immediately become effective.

According to the Indian government, citizens of Italy, Iran, South Korea and Japan will be ineligible to enter the territory of India due to the suspension of visas and e-visas granted on or before March 3, 2020, VisaGuide.World reports.

“Those requiring to travel to India due to compelling reasons may seek fresh visa from nearest Indian Embassy/Consulate,” the government pointed out in a statement.

So far,  43 cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in India, without any fatal case.

Last Monday, in India, were detected three cases of people infected with coronavirus, one of the cases was identified in Delhi. In comparison, the two other cases were identified in the southern state of Telangana and the western state of Rajasthan.

Six other people who were suspected of having been in contact with the infected person in Delhi have been kept under watch and will be tested for the COVID-19.

According to the government, all foreigners that have been to China, Iran, Italy, South Korea or Japan after February 1, 2020, will be ineligible to enter India.

Foreigners who want to enter India will be required to present to the health and immigration officials a travel history. At the same time, all the passengers beside those restricted, arriving from other countries will undergo medical screening at the entry of the country.

Countries that will undergo thorough medical screening are China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, China’s Hong Kong, China’s Macau, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore and China’s Taiwan.

The number of Chinese citizens infected with coronavirus has gone over 80,000 persons, while the total number of deaths is 3,120.

In South Korea, so far  7,478 cases with coronavirus have been marked, while the number of deaths remains 53. Whereas in Italy, the spread of COVID 19 has increased up to 7,000, with the total number of deaths 366.

In Iran, another country that India has restricted the entry to, the number of affected persons with coronavirus is 7,161 meanwhile the number of persons that have lost their life due to the deadly infection has reached 237.

By now, the number of citizens infected with the deadly coronavirus worldwide has gone up to 111,000, while the number of deaths is 3,882.
